On the news, they were announcing a new BatMan game. They ended with, "No joke(r)," as in, "No joker." No kidding!Why must news and information shows use all of those annoying puns?
Because the news shows feel that they need to dumb down the news for the average viewer. It's a vicious circle-they dumb it down, the public follows it, so they dumb it dow some more. Does any one remember the news in the '60s and '70s? No photo ops, no sound bites, just an anchor or two (eg Huntley and Brinkley) giving us the news. No opinions, no jokes, just "this is what happened" or "this is what he/she said" and the unspoken agreement was "we will tell you the news, no more and no less, and you make up your mind' (with apologies to Fox news).
